Am I really going to put myself through this? Yes, yes I am. Alright, so here is the gist of this: My fellow Valorians suggest Pokémon for me to try and use as a troll and/or stall set. Examples are my Stall Shedinja and Troll Gyarados. I won't do Pokémon that won't work for certain (like Weedle, Magikarp, etc). Nor will I do it with Pokémon that are already commonly used for those roles. Using Chansey wouldn't exactly be interesting, or unique at all. I'll post any worthwhile replays, as well as the sets that I end up using. Let's see how long I can keep going through with this! A note to @[member="Bionic Puppy"] Spoiler Here is your chance to try and break me of this habit, so you no longer gag
I wouldn't particularly call this a stall set, or an unconventional one, but I really like CM Manaphy and I think it could fit on a more stally team decently. I like the set in particular considering most expect it to take advantage of its access to Tail Glow, so people often don't expect a more bulky set. With Scald you have a decent burn chance that can really screw with Pokémon that are otherwise checks/counters. Rain Dance + Rest provides fairly reliable recovery allowing you to stall out your opponent or provide opportunities to set up. Manaphy @ Leftovers Ability: Hydration EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe Bold Nature - Calm Mind - Scald - Rain Dance - Rest Feel free to play with the EVs if you choose to use it.
Contrary to popular belif, no, i dont wish to break @[member="Endrew Swiftwind"] 's sanity. Warning: long. Spoiler Heres a bunch of troll sets i would love to use but dont have the will power to. Garchomp @ Leftovers Ability: Sand Veil Serious Nature - Sand Tomb - Substitute - Toxic - Sandstorm I would suggest a defensive/spdcial defensive/fast bulky support on this one. Shedinja @ Focus Sash Ability: Wonder Guard IVs: 0 Atk - Toxic - Will-O-Wisp - Confuse Ray - Spite This, Is stall, also works for a viable switchin on teams and to ruin the other guys momentum. Talonflame @ Heat Rock/Focussash/Burnorb(if youw ana be that guy) Ability: Flame Body/Galewings EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 30 HP / 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD - Sunny Day - Solar Beam - Fire Blast - Hidden Power [Flying] It Can, therfore it should. Ampharos-Mega @ Ampharosite Ability: Mold Breaker IVs: 0 Atk - Toxic - Cotton Guard - Discharge - Dragon Pulse This thing has 105 defense and gets cotton guard, and the world will learn why, Mold breaker also assists agnist magic bouncers. Tangrowth @ Life Orb Ability: Chlorophyll EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Energy Ball - Focus Blast - Sludge Bomb - Ancient Power Assisted By talons Heatrock Whilist having decent Spatk for its size, its what i would call, the actually good bad thing. Beedrill @ Beedrillite Ability: Swarm EVs: 252 SpA Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Sludge Bomb - Silver Wind - Ominous Wind - Giga Drain Double emga for lols, 10/10 if you do run it tho, This beedrill gets access to All sorts of moves with its incredibly underratted spatk, Show them why its usefull! Goodluck, With love and troll faces ~Wiso Altred.
A Pokémon I have battled and lost to... Shuckle @ Leftovers Ability: Contrary (or so I am told) Nature: Relaxed -Rest -Sleep Talk -Infestation -Shell Smash (or Power Trick if you are gutsy)
I'll add in more as I get more requests. I am using two normal Pokémon on this team, so that I might stand a chance. A few things to note: 1. I actually have seen these Manaphy and Shuckle sets more often then you might think. 2. I used my Shedinja, as it was similar to Wiso's, but a bit better at stall. 3. I do not reccomend using these sets (except those mentioned in 1), unless you are screwing around. 4. Beedrill has Wise Glasses over Beedrillite. That is to give an item that is slightly positive, rather than dropping SpA by 30 base points. I think this is more than enough "trolling". Sets: Spoiler === [ou] "Troll" Sets === *Evil Laugh* (Shedinja) @ Focus Sash Ability: Wonder Guard EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Hasty Nature IVs: 0 Def - Toxic - Dig - Phantom Force - Protect Pain (Garchomp) @ Leftovers Ability: Sand Veil EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Sand Tomb - Substitute - Toxic - Sandstorm Flufferson (Ampharos-Mega) @ Ampharosite Ability: Mold Breaker EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Toxic - Cotton Guard - Discharge - Dragon Pulse Mr. Teacher (Beedrill) (M) @ Wise Glasses Ability: Swarm EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Sludge Bomb - Silver Wind - Ominous Wind - Giga Drain *Jeopardy Music* (Shuckle) @ Leftovers Ability: Contrary EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Sassy Nature - Rest - Sleep Talk - Infestation - Shell Smash Dr. Broom (Manaphy) @ Leftovers Ability: Hydration EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe Bold Nature - Calm Mind - Scald - Rain Dance - Rest Tangrowth @ Life Orb Ability: Chlorophyll EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Energy Ball - Focus Blast - Sludge Bomb - Ancient Power Whyso? (Talonflame) @ Heat Rock Ability: Gale Wings EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 30 HP / 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD - Sunny Day - Solar Beam - Fire Blast - Hidden Power [Flying] The worthwhile battles: Spoiler 1. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-425511280 -Manaphy secured me a win. So I am done with them Also, Shedinja prevented a Dragonite sweep. But I'll keep them 2. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-425521321 -Okay, so there wasn't a lot showcased. But this battle was awesome. 3. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-425524951 -I lost, but Tangrowth put in some fine work. SO I shall replace them. 4. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-425547982 -Hey, look who was useful. Now to replace Ampharos. 5. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-425553644 -Shuckle caused a forfeit. Now to try out Talonflame I will finish this later. I need to remember physical Togekiss too.
A famous set of mine is this: Emolga @Focus Stash Thunder Wave Light Screen Encore Volt Switch It works well with a good stall mon like Shuckle/Mega Aggron that has Field Object set up (such as Stealth Rocks) . Also works well as a Thundurus Alternative!
Conkeldurr @ Scope Lens Ability: Iron Fist EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 SpD Adamant Nature - Focus Energy - Drain Punch - Knock Off - Mach Punch Togekiss @ Lansat Berry Ability: Super Luck EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Thunder Wave - Roost - Air Slash/Air Cutter - Aura Sphere I thought hmm, what annoys people in battles more than anything else? Well with these two sets you can get a ridiculously high chance of landing a critical hit! For Conkeldurr all you have to do is use focus energy and then fire away with massively powerful drain punches to heal back your hp. Iron fist boosts drain punch by 1.2x and a critical hit adds another 1.5x on top of stab with gives another 1.5x boost and it deals massive damage since Conk already has 140 base attack. Mach Punch helps with last minute kills and knock off for ghost and psychic types. Togekiss' set is a bit more risky to pull off, but when in full effect it can be devastating. Basically you start off using thunder wave and hope that your opponent deals at least enough damage to eventually trigger your lansat berry at 1/4th hp. With roost you can heal your hp back up after the effect activates and air slash will deal a solid amount of damage (Air cutter has 100% critical hit odds but is weaker by 15 compared to air slash). Aura sphere provides great coverage as well alongside air slash. Although Togekiss' critical hits wont be as devastating as Conkeldurr's, its impressive bulk makes it quite a powerful tank with critical hits everywhere and heals.
This thing can be one annoying little troll that can really put in work. Whimsicott @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Leech Seed - Substitute - Protect - Moonblast I invested quite a bit in to speed to take advantage of it's pretty great speed, allowing it to also function as a revenge killer for slower weakened mons. The idea is essentially to set up seeds and stall between sub and protect. The set however does force a lot of switches so you will want to make aggressive double leech seed plays whenever the risk is worth the reward. The set does get hard walled by bulky grass types, so things that give Amoonguss and Tangrowth a bad time are mandatory. The set is also fairly susceptible to being set up on, so having a phazer or Unaware mon is very useful.
As I am currently in the land of pretzels without a computer, I can only offer you the wonderful core of SheDos. Hands down one of the best defensive voltturn cores I have had the grace of working with. Zapdos and Shedninja fit together very well, although both are weak to the rock typing and neither appreciate status, Zapdos protects Shedninja from checks like Talonflame, Gyarados-Mega, Scarf Excadrill (although this one is rather situational) among many others. Zapdos is great at either getting rid of hazards, crippling Pokémon with toxic or luring specific Pokémon with Hidden Power ice, which only makes Zappy here a better fit. Shedninja only helps this core with its ability to switch in on common stallbreakers like Manaphy, Mamoswine and choised Pokémon to help easily gain momentum with baton pass which Zapdos really enjoys along with spreading burns to powerful physical threats, making Zapdos' life easier. This core works best on SemiStall and I made a team with this core paired with a Beedrill-Mega and a Volcanion to great success. You're best with another stealth rocks remover and maybe a Sableye or Diancie-Mega to help keep the rocks away. Good luck!!
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-430473247 I'll edit more battles into this post later. This was against my little brother, who is still learning how to play. But this is what my Shedinja is capable of. He forfeited, but couldn't touch me. I think this counts as a sweep. So I can get rid of this guy and hopefully balance my team out. The last few Pokémon I got don't seem to be non-standard sets though. The point of this is to make opponents go, "Really? They're running that!?" Not to use normal / practical sets.
I'll add in a few of my little satans. Spoiler: Nosepass Nosepass Lvl 1 Item: Berry Juice Ability: Sturdy IV's: Who need's 'em? EV's: I make people put in effort for me Moves: -Toxic -Magic Coat -Protect -Pain Split Getting humiliated by level 1's is fun isn't it? Nosepass is one such Pokémon that is a living, breathing, embodiment of pain and suffering. Since Nosepass is such a low level, it has low HP. Your opponent's Pokémon are usually all going to be level 100's or 50's. Pain Split recognises this and takes half of your opponents remaining HP each and every time Nosepass uses it. And guess what? Nosepass gets healed to full health. This strategy relies on Nosepass having Sturdy and Pain Splitting away at your opponents health, all the while, Toxic is taking it's toll on your opponent as well. I use this with a sand team so Sandstorm also whittles away at your opponents health as well. Read hard and you get rewarded with a suffering opponent. Weaknesses: Status Effects Entry Hazards Hail Knock Off Toxic Miss Steel types Forced Switch move (Dragon Tail, Whirlwind, Roar, etc.) Spoiler: Cottonee Cottonee Level 1 Item: Focus Sash Ability: Prankster IV's: Lol who needs 'em? EV's: Way too cute to put in effort! Moves: -Leech Seed -Substitute -Encore -Toxic Humiliation at it's finest. Cottonee will destroy your soul no matter how tough you are. Like Nosepass, reading hard pays off. Since Leech Seed does percent damage to the opponent's HP depending on the opponent's level, Cottonee will get all of it's health back from Leech Seed. If you some how mess up, you have a sash to help you. Oh they try to status Cottonee? Substitute, Encore, Leech Seed, Toxic, Punished. Trying to set up? Encore, Substitute, Leech Seed, Toxic, Punished, idiot. Like Nosepass, Cottonee is read-reward and it is oh so satisfying when you can shut down a Darkrai who tries to Dark Void every single turn. Also this works in Ubers too. Just watch this. Weaknesses: Status Conditions Entry Hazards Circle Throw Hail and Sandstorm Infiltrator Priority Moves Sound Moves (Bug Buzz, Boomburst, Hyper Voice, etc.) Spoiler: Shuckle Shuckle Item: Leftovers Ability: Contrary EV's: 252 Defense, 252 Sp Def and 4 HP IV's 31 in HP, Def and Sp Def, the rest don't matter Moves: -Shell Smash -Toxic -Infestation -Rest Don't Fuckle With The Shuckle. Shuckle is the tankiest Pokémon in the game in terms of defensive stats. Someone on GameFreak must've been high on Acid to think that Contrary Shuckle was a great idea because Defensive Shell Smash is fun! Spam Shell Smash 6 times and almost nothing can stop you from making your opponent suffer. Infestation makes your opponent trapped so they take residual damage from Toxic and Infestation. I've had a fully EV trained Terrakion do 9 damage with a Close Combat to this thing. Oh your HP somehow gets low? REST. HAHAHAHA! Weaknesses: Clear Smog Forced Switch Moves Unaware Moves that ignore defensive stats Moves that do fixed damage (Night Shade, Seismic Toss, etc.)
